Commander Keen is a super retro game develop by the creators of Doom. It’s a Mario style platformer where you jump around collecting coins, avoiding or attacking enemies and traps. You also have a gun you can shoot. Commander Keen is not for the impatient gamer. This game is of a different time and needs to be respect with. Expect ridged controls and somewhat convoluted menu navigation, and a totally nonsensical narrative plot. Episode 1 is a simple, short platformer, where you have to find four parts of your spaceship. Episode 2 is a bit longer and harder, but not bad either. But Episode 3 can seriously burn in the fiery depths of hell. It has seizure-inducing colors, annoying, unpredictable enemies, unavoidable hazards and downright sadistic level design. And of course you can only save between levels, so one minor mistake, and you start from the beginning. They are one of my all-time favorite platformers that very fun to play. Much better graphics, great music, fluent controls, challenging game play. Overall, this pack is worth getting for Episode 4 and 5 alone, the rest is easily skippable.
